Protection. The award will be granted during the annual CRITIS conferences in 2014, 2015 and 2016. 

At CRITIS 2014 in Limassol, Cyprus, the first CYCA has been bestowed (Call text: 2014 call).

The second CYCA has been bestowed at CRITIS 2015 in Berlin, Germany.

The winner of this second CYCA was Mr. Varun Badrinath Krishna who presented his paper with title “ARIMA-Based Modeling and Validation of Consumption Readings in Power Grids.", co-authored by Ravishankar K. Iyer and William H. Sanders.

Mrs Marzia Mastrapasqua and Mr Gabriele Oliva received finalist awards. Mrs Mastrapasqua presented a paper on "The professional figure of the Security Liaison Officer in the Council Directive 2008/114/EC", co-authored by Maria Carla De Maggio and Roberto Setola, and Mr Oliva presented "Identifying The European Council Directive 2008/114/EC defines: ‘Critical infrastructure’ (CI) means an asset, system or part thereof located in Member States which is essential for the maintenance of vital societal functions, health, safety, security, economic..

Security and Protection sponsored by EU FP7 Project CIPRNet, aims at promoting the activities of young industry or research organisations researchers.

The winner of this first CYCA was Mr. Constantinos Heracleous who presented his paper with title “Critical Infrastructure Online Fault Detection: Application in Water Supply Systems.” The paper introduces a testbed that emulates the operation and common faults of a water supply system and its interactions with a SCADA system. An online fault detection algorithm based on a fault diagnosis architecture for nonlinear uncertain discrete-time systems was then implemented and applied to the testbed. The experimental results illustrated the effectiveness of the approach in detecting faults accurately and fast which can increase critical infrastructures resilience. 

Mrs Federica Inderst and Mr Stavros Ntalampiras received finalist awards. Mrs Inderst presented a paper on "Improving Situational Awareness for First Responders", and Mr Ntalampiras presented "Automatic Fault Identification in Sensor Networks Based on Probabilistic Modeling".
